The Prayer Group practices fellowship in prayer, asking the Holy Spirit to lead one in our faith using our charismatic gifts. Prayers are offered for those in need. All are welcome and invited to have a Sprit-filled relationship with Jesus.
The Charismatic Renewal came into being shortly after Vatican II when Pope John Paul XVIII asked that the windows of the Church be opened, and invited the Holy Spirit to renew his Church. Signs and wonder followed. We do not have much information available about its beginning at St. Nicholas. There are meetings held at most Churches.
We are a group, are one body and we all take part in seeking and praying to the Holy Spirit for direction and healing. We lay hands on each other and pray for gifts of the Spirit. We find, upon asking the Holy Spirit into our lives, we have a great hunger for God’s word. We read excerpts from the Bible at our meeting.
